Strategic OEM Partnerships and Co-Branded Product Launches
Managed an electrical protection product portfolio while expanding its reach through OEM-driven, co-branded variants, supporting the full lifecycle from technical alignment and development through launch and post-launch growth.
Actions/Responsibilities:
Strategic Product Manager owning the electrical protection product portfolio, including development and expansion of OEM-driven, co-branded product variants where partners brand manufacturer-produced products.
(Internal stakeholders included Engineering, Category Management, Marketing, Technical Support, and Brand/Partner Management. External stakeholders included OEM partners, certification bodies, distribution partners, and end customers for validation and feedback.)
Goal:
Expand market reach and revenue potential of existing electrical protection products by enabling OEM partners to commercialize manufacturer-produced solutions under their own brands. Address the need for faster market access, broader channel penetration, and entry into partner-specific segments without duplicating product development efforts. Balance technical standardization with partner-specific customization while maintaining product quality, compliance, and brand integrity.
Scope:
Full lifecycle ownership of electrical protection products, including definition, development, launch, and continuous improvement. Identified and developed co-branding opportunities where OEM partners branded company-manufactured products. Aligned technical specifications, product configurations, and branding requirements to support partner-specific variants. Coordinated with internal teams and OEM stakeholders to integrate co-branded products into existing platforms without compromising core product integrity. Oversaw certification, compliance, and multi-market readiness for both standard and co-branded variants. Contributed to go-to-market planning and supported partner enablement for successful product launches. Expanded the portfolio through scalable adaptation of core products into multiple branded offerings.
Strategy/Approach:
Established a structured partnership framework covering the full lifecycle from OEM alignment through design, certification, and market launch. Defined early alignment processes for branding, technical specifications, target applications, and market positioning to reduce downstream conflicts. Coordinated cross-functional teams through milestone-based governance. Implemented joint development workflows that balanced co-engineering efficiency with protection of proprietary technologies. Integrated regulatory and certification planning into early project phases to avoid launch delays across regions. Developed scalable go-to-market models, including co-branded positioning, sales channel enablement, and pricing alignment. Introduced early customer validation to improve product-market fit and accelerate adoption. Established post-launch processes for performance tracking, continuous improvement, and expansion into additional product lines.
Results/Outcomes:
Launched more than 1,000 branded items, generating more than EUR 170K in first-year revenue and EUR 3M pull through revenue.
Established scalable sales channels to support sustained growth.
Strengthened market position by combining internal product capability with partner engineering and commercial reach.
Lessons Learned:
- Early alignment on branding, technical specifications, and target markets reduces development and launch conflicts.
- Clear agreements on branding rights, trademarks, and liability sharing are essential to protect both parties and maintain quality perception.
- Joint project teams, defined decision-making protocols, and milestone-based reviews help keep multi-party development on track.
- Early validation with end customers improves product-market fit and speeds adoption. Planning for post-launch support, continuous improvement, and regular partnership review creates a stronger base for future portfolio expansion.
